The Potter Delusion

As of now, Richard Dawkins has joined the ranks of honorable men (such as these guys) in personally condemning Harry Potter.  Apparently, he thinks fairy tales may have a pernicious effect on our children because they encourage anti-scientific thinking.
You can’t make this stuff up!
Satirists might soon be out of a job when it comes to [...]

When Time Began

St. Thomas Aquinas once argued that we can’t know whether time had a beginning, or in other words, whether the world has always existed.  I’m convinced that I’ve managed to prove the Angelic Doctor wrong on this point.  I know I’m making an extremely bold claim, but please consider my argument.
Suppose time has no beginning. Then [...]

Rumblings from the Synod on Scripture

Please enlighten me to the mysterious ways of cyberspace.  Also, let me know if you even want me to link to your blog (some of you might have privacy concerns).
Can you place me [...]

My Guinea Pig is Sick Again

She was better for well over five days, but now she’s had a relapse.  I’d appreciate it if you all could offer up a few more prayers.  If Swirl can fight off this cold, she’ll probably live another year or so, which is a long time in my humble opinion.  Many memories can be made [...]

My Guinea Pig is Sick

UPDATE:  My pet is doing much better now.  Thank you for your prayers.
Her name is Swirls.  We think she’s sick.  We can’t afford antibiotics for her.  Small animals usually die without proper medication.
Swirls is very dear to my heart.  I already anointed her with some holy water and entrusted her to the care of St. [...]
